A Set of Summer-Style Courses on a Newly Revised Map!

    Course Formats:

The courses are designed to avoid nasty areas of summer vegetation and to provide an opportunity to beat the heat by doing a few shorter courses rather than one long course.

*A standard beginner (white) course, designed to have easier navigation and route choices for people new to orienteering. Free instruction will also be available for new orienteers.

*A standard sprint course, in the style of the Wednesday night series.

*A Middle/Sprint style hybrid, with sets of quick legs in a couple of areas of nice woods connected by some sprint legs and longer route choice legs on the trails. Shorter (2.5km) or Longer (4.5km) versions are available.

*A Choose-o. Like a trail-o but where you visit the controls. In the area of each control location there will 1-4 flags, each with a punch. You must select the control that matches the location on the map and the control description, or decide that no flag is correctly placed.

*A Head-to-head sprint. A sprint course with forking and a butterfly loop, designed so that you can start at the same time as somebody else (or multiple other people) and have a head-to-head race. Challenge your friends or people with similar sprint rankings. The course can also be done individually.

More detailed course notes and course stats are posted here.

    Updated Map!

The central part of the Nolde map was updated by Vladmir Zherdev in 2017.  We have only had a couple of beginner courses at Nolde since then, so for most club members this will be the first opportunity to run on the revised map.  Except for a bit of the longer middle/sprint course, all of the courses will be on the revised section of the map.

    Other Important Notes:

*Starts from 9:30-1:00, so you can come early, beat the heat, and do multiple courses.

*Courses close at 2:00, and the gates to the park close at 4:00.

*We will have SI Air for this event; an SI card can be rented for $5 with proceeds going to the national team. If you have not used SI Air before try it out; it is really fun!

*Cost for members is $5 per course. For $20 do as many courses as you want with SI Air. For non-members the cost is $10 for the first course and $5 per additional course, with a max of $25.

*Please consider volunteering. We could use help with registration and control pickup. We are using lots of controls for this event but they are not very spread out, so even just a few minutes helping with pickup would be very useful.
