Topic created by skolins on Tue Apr 2, 2019 at 8:27 pmAs part of the event at Warwick this Sunday we will be offering an intermediate level class. The class is aimed at people who have completed an orienteering course before and are looking to transition to (or improve their performance on) courses that involve more off-trail navigation. The class will be offered at two times, starting at 10:00 and 11:15 and lasts around an hour. The class will cover skills useful for finding controls that are not near trails. Topics will introduce planning and attackpoints, keeping map contact, rough compass and aiming off, and reading contours. We will be out in the the woods practicing these skills. After the class, try out your new or improved skills on one of the full courses being offered that day!No pre-registration is required. If you want to reply to this post or email me at samcol19 at yahoo dot com to let me know you are comming that would be nice for printing map numbers but not required.

Reply by Magna111 on Tue Apr 2, 2019 at 9:26 pmNo preregistration required right? Is there going to be a limit of people per class? Will it be outside or indoors? I plan on trying to make the early class with my girlfriend.

Reply by skolins on Wed Apr 3, 2019 at 9:04 amGood questions - I also added the responses to the original post. The class will be outdoors - the weather forecast looks great and practicing the skills in the woods should hopefully be more useful then just talking about them. Maps will be provided. No pre-registration is required. If you want to reply to this post or email me at samcol19 at yahoo dot com to let me know you are comming that would be nice for printing map numbers but not required. If either group gets really big we will split in two.
