The results were very interesting on the Green Lane white course.  Looks like a lot of kids punched the wrong first control, a very understandable error for a first timer.  They probably had been told to check the codes, but kids get excited -- it's the first time they ever punched a control and it was the wrong one!

omg, was the control they punched the demonstration control?  that's why it didn't show up in the splits?

I don't think anybody punched the demonstration control as the first control - that would still show up in the splits.  The mispunches on white #1 were a mix of people punching the first control from the Brown course and people going directly to #2 (some thinking that #1 was where they started rather than the start triangle).  As you said, lots of excitment on the first control, especially with that many other people all running around you, starting towards the first control on various courses.

everyone  did clear and check before starting. Not only at the gates but again at the start to impress on them the importance of clearing the chip.    Pat
