Since two of the World Games team members from the US are from DVOA land, might the DVOA leaders prepare a press release or otherwise contact Philly news outlets for some promotion of our local orienteers at the World Games? Https://Twg2022.com

(At least five DVOA members who are not competing are volunteering at the Games, two of whom have already spent hours and hours working to make the orienteering portion a success.)

Also, I've heard that CBS will present World Games highlights. https://www.theworldgames.org/news/The-World-Games-2022-32/TWG-2022-CBS-Sports-2152

Aside from orienteering, I may be looking for 'korfball'.

    Hope this helps,

Greg Ahoswede was one of the first starters this morning at Birmingham Southern College (it was hot and sunny, but could have been worse) and finished 32nd of 39. Alison Csmpbell finished 31st of 36 women. The other US competitors, Joe Barrett of QOC and Ali Crocker of CROC / CSU were 29th and 24th, respectively. Coming tomorrow morning is the Middle at Oak Mountain State Park where the men again start first, 9AM CDT. The World Games site seems to have the results tables; the IOF page may eventually have something. Sundays will be the sprint relay with women on the first and last legs and the men sandwiched between...mass start 9AM Central/10AM Eastern.

Announcers are not the best: "looking at their compass" "following the compass" "coordinates" ... while they show the map. Silly Olympics announcers.

Not sure I'd  be too keen on that hand-on-shoulder thing at the start.

    Where's Boris' stream?

"Hand on the shoulder" ... IOF Rules (it's only for the last 5 seconds). Boris's commentary ... on IOF stream? I don't know; I worked at start and barely saw any of the finish or streaming.

    Middle results, Men:

The other Canadian (Damian Konotopetz) DSQ. It was very hot out there and the course was very hilly which played very much into the results.

The US finished 10th in today's Sprint Relay, with Alison Campbell edging out Canada's Carol Walker on the last leg! Yay, Team USA. Results are final; Switzerland won followed by Norway and the UK after a Danish woman DNS and a Swedish woman made a mistake, allowing the UK woman to get ahead.
