The 2019 DVOA Summer Picnic will be held Sunday, June 23rd at Springton Manor Farm.  Registration will open at 10:00 am with a mass start relay beginning at 11:00 am.

Map print scale is 1:5,000 with 10 ft contours.  The relay consists of three legs (run in the following order):

    White            1.9 km

    Yellow           2.4 km

    Brown           2.8 km

In an effort to balance teams for the relay, a point system will be used.  Official relay teams must have a minimum of 3 points.  Points are assigned as follows:

1 point:  Junior (20 and younger)

1 point:  Veteran (40 and older)

    1 point:  Female

A single person can count for 2 points if they satisfy two of the criteria above.  If you don’t have a relay team and would like us to assign you to a team, record your name on the “Individuals Needing a Relay Team” clipboard at registration.

A regular White Course (1.9 km) will also be offered from 10:00-12:00 for those not participating in the relay.  If you would like to go out on Yellow or Brown as an individual (not as part of a relay team), we will allow it but only after ensuring there are enough maps for relay participants (meaning no individual starts on Yellow or Brown until after the relay mass start).

Some minor map updates were made for this event.

After the conclusion of the relay, we will have lunch in the pavilion.  Please bring a covered dish to share and your own plates/cups/utensils.  The club will provide drinks.  After lunch, we will hold the annual summer meeting.  We anticipate starting the meeting around 2:00 pm.

If anyone is interested in running e-punch for this event let me know.  Also - does anyone have a grill they could bring?  The club can provide charcoal.

    Thanks,

Tom Overbaugh (Event Director & Course Setter)

I can bring a 2 foot by 2 foot grill, and charcoal.
Is this so people can grill thier own covered dishes?
