So the 1st Ever! orienteering event was held in my hometown today with the help of Jim Wolfe's map of the High School and Middle School grounds.  2nd and 5th graders teamed up in teams of 2 or 3 to try one of two separate beginner courses.  Parents and teachers supported the start and finish areas and guarded the perimeter of the course areas so kids did not wonder off the map.  I believe it was a great success and teachers and parents and one principal now could say this is not what we expected but so much better.  The kids sign of success was the statement at the finish  "can we do the course again!"  A special thank you goes to Kristin Cramer my niece who teaches at the middle school and did all the leg work for approvals and preparing the kids with 4-6 weeks of informaiton and videos cluminating with today's event.   Jim Wolfeo supported the vent with epunch and I believe was glad to see the map being used for orienteering.   So very happy to bring the sport to kids in my hometown.  Will get to visit it again I believe in August for my 45th high school reunion...maybe another chance to get to use the map???     Aso we entered to SportIndent Lottery to win a training kit so wish us a lotta luck as the photographer didn't help the entry!!!  Where is Bob and Julie when you need them.   Tmorrow a YMCA program for the first ever public event in Hburg!
