Picnic Thanks

Topic created by Tom-O on Sun Jun 10, 2018 at 8:56 pmThanks to all who came out to attend the summer picnic today at Fort Washington. The rain held off until the meeting so only the control picker-uppers got wet.I hope people enjoyed the relay format. One change I will make for next year is to use the same White course for the regular course and the relay to avoid any confusion. On the results side, it was a clean sweep for the Rileys. AJ edged out Wyatt for first by a mere 6 seconds. And Oriana and Angelica teamed up for 3rd place. All the teams except one met the 3 point criteria and that one team didn't miss by much so we will consider all results "official."A big thank you to all the helpers: Sandy Fillebrown for staffing e-punch all day and sorting out the gymnastics required for Sport Ident to handle both regular courses and relays as well as individuals runniing multiple relay legs. Dave Morgan, Pat & Bob Burton, Mark & Robert Frank, Kim McCane, Lena Kushleyeva, Petr Hartman, Kathy Urban (permissions), Nancy Sharp for running the meeting and anyone else I overlooked.Hopefully RouteGadget will be available shortly to post your routes.PS - if anyone found a serrated knife, with a black handle let me know.Tom

Reply by kathyu on Mon Jun 11, 2018 at 1:50 pmYes, I was the nitwit who tried to run the white relay with a regular white clue sheet. I both amused and irritated the frisbee golfers as I ran back and forth trying to make sense of the wrong clue sheet. It was all on me!Nobody ever says "thanks" for getting permissions, so "you're welcome, Tom".I hope to see everyone on Wednesday evening for the sprint. Pretty much the same place. And finally, the question of memberships and pricing came up.Saving money on meets with a membership never crossed my mind -- DVOA membership means I am part of a group of great people, and enjoying a fun sport. I hope to keep enjoying orienteering with DVOA until that unhappy moment I just can't do it any more.Kathy Urban
